Children play in FLUSHING MEADOWS-CORONA PARK. An OLD MAN with a cane escorted by his 60-year-old SON slowly approaches a STONE PLAQUE. The Old MAN looks at the STONE PLAQUE. <\/p>\n
It reads \u201cThe Time Capsules Deposited September 23, 1938 and October 16, 1965 by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a record of Twentieth Century Civilization-To endure for 5000 years\u201d<\/p>\n
The OLD MAN stares at it for a moment then smiles.<\/p>\n

EXT. New York World\u2019s Fair 1939 \u2013 DAY<\/p>\n
A GIGANTIC WHITE SPHERE and OBELISK are in the background of LARGE RECTANGULAR POOLS lined by WHITE SCULPTURES.<\/p>\n
A YOUNG BOY looks with big eyes to see a SIGN which reads \u201cNew York World\u2019s Fair-The World of Tommorow.\u201d He excitedly runs over to get in line on a curved walkway leading to the GIANT WHITE SPHERE. His FATHER hurries to catch up to the YOUNG BOY.<\/p>\n
After waiting in line the YOUNG BOY and FATHER enter the opening in the GIGANTIC WHITE SPHERE. A SIGN shows the name of the GIGANTIC WHITE SPHERE as PERISPHERE.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nDad, this is really nifty!<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nI knew you would like it! <\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nWhat\u2019s inside this giant ball, Dad?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nThere is supposed to be a MODEL CITY OF THE FUTURE. See here. (Points to a MOVING WALKWAY) This will take us around to see it.<\/p>\n
INT: PERISPHERE <\/p>\n
The FATHER and YOUNG BOY approach and board the MOVING WALKWAY. They travel along looking at the massive MODEL CITY OF THE FUTURE.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nWow, Dad do you think this is what New York will look like in the future?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nMaybe many, many years from now.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nYou mean like 1962?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nMaybe a little longer than that. <\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nYou mean like the year 2000?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nYeah, maybe 2000.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nDo you think I\u2019ll be alive then? And if I am, will New York look like this?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nEnough questions Edward Cornish, my you\u2019re a curious boy.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nI just like to think about the future and if its going to be this nifty!<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nWell, we\u2019ll have to see. (Exiting the MOVING WALKWAY) Let\u2019s go look at the WESTINGHOUSE TIME CAPSULE. I hear they are burying it for 5000 years.<\/p>\n
The YOUNG BOY and FATHER Walk towards the Westinghouse Time Capsule Exhibit.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nWhat is a time capsule, Dad?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nWell, it\u2019s where scientist take a bunch of modern day items and put them into a protective shell then bury them deep into the ground until someone digs it up many years later. In this case it should be 5000 years from now.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nWhat kinds of things do they put in there?<\/p>\n
FATHER
\nI hear that they\u2019re putting in a MICKEY MOUSE WATCH, a GILLETTE SAFETY RAZOR, and even a KEWPIE DOLL.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nA KEWPIE DOLL? That\u2019s yucky girl stuff. <\/p>\n
FATHER
\nI\u2019m sure there will be little girls in the future.<\/p>\n
YOUNG BOY
\nYeah, but maybe in the future they\u2019ll play baseball and other sports instead of with yucky dolls.<\/p>\n
FATHER
\n(Chuckles) I doubt that, son. I doubt that.<\/p>\n

The OLD MAN looks up from the stone plaque and sees some GIRLS playing soccer in the park. He chuckles to himself and motions to his SON it is time to go. The OLD MAN and SON walk away from the STONE PLAQUE.<\/p>\n
